MISsIoN
The Bilingual Initiative's mision is to assure that students with Hispanic heritage complete their bachelor's degree at the University of Puerto Rico not only sharing cultural experiences, but by acquiring the empowerment of bilingual fluency in an academic envorinment.
VISIoN
We envision the importance of strengthening the relationship between our country and the Hispanic population in the United States.
OBJEctives
- Serve as a mediator between the administration of the University and the new applicant in order for them to complete every admission process succesfully.
- Facilitate the academic process once the students confirms their interest in studying in the University of Puerto Rico.
- Offer the academic support needed to promote an effective transition in the Spanish language fluency as a helpful educational tool.
- Promote the puertorrican and Hispanic culture through extracurricular activities coordinated specially for the Bilingual Initiative's students.
- Augment cultural diversity in our student body at The University of Puerto Rico and expose scholars to diverse life styles.
- Encourage the Bilingual Initiative's pupils to expands their horizons by considering the possibility of studying in other countries through Student Exchange Programs.
The Bilingual Initiative responds to the Agenda de Planificación of the University of Puerto Rico (2006-2016 decade), in which the first objective of Meta de Vínculo Sostenido con el Estudiantado states like necessary the implantation of an effective program to recruit students from Puerto Rico, United States and Latin America in order to acquire the best talents to our University.
Diez para la década: Agenda para la planificación (2006-2016). Documento avalado por la Junta de Síndicos mediante la Certificación Número 123, 2005-2006 con lo cual se completó un largo y amplio proceso de discusión del plan de desarrollo institucional.
